. >> reporter: it really is, rebecca. good morning to you. thank goodness for the long johns. we're talking about temperatures in the low teens and single digits in many places still this morning. that's on top of the snow and ice that moves through yesterday. and before it's all said and done, many residents are preparing for another winter blast tonight. across the northeast, midwest, and south friday the winter storm wreaks havoc on roads. snow on a high wrai in ohio caused this spinout. in tennessee police say a fire truck slid off the road while trying to help a state trooper that had slipped off in the same spot. the fire truck landed on top of the cruiser, killing 26-year veteran trooper michael slagle. a similar scene in kentucky as black ice caused the fire truck to flip on its side. three firefighters were sent to the hospital. and an icy interstate set off crash after crash, many involving tractor-trailers turning i-65 into a parking lot. the blast of wintry weather follows the frigid week across much of the country in some places, the coldest temperatures

want to bring in joe johns. he's also working his sources. what are you hearing, joe? >> well, we've got the fbi, the alcohol, tobacco, firearms bureau and others converging on the scene and we're told there are about five different local agencies surrounding the woods there looking for that one shooter who apparently has not been identified. as ed reported, this sounds very different, wolf, from the types of situations we've seen aurora, colorado, newtown, connecticut, and other places where one individual went in indiscriminately and started shooting. this appears to be an altercation between two people in a school setting which makes it sound like more like the things we've seen at public schools and major metropolitan areas and some other universities where police have to start asking questions, was it drug-related, was it gang-related, was this a score settling of any type? these are the types of questions. and congresswoman sheila jackson lee of texas who represents this area, harris county, texas, was asked that question and sort of restated it on air a while ago but we dou

john boehner on a grand bargain on entitlement reform, crafting a budget now. i don't think you're going to see major cuts in that. it's a significant shift. remember, obama said the deficit kept his awake in the first term. through his actions, you know, he's not pursuing a lot of cuts and changes to entitlements. liz: what is feasible for the president to get through with a window of 16 months? gun control? what do you think he can push through successfully? >> well, i think he will try to push through gun control and they are starting right away and i know biden is in virginia trying to sell the plan but i think that what's clear is that the president's agenda and the american people's agenda are different. it's expwressing to see that the president is tackling those issues that are at the very bottom of the public's priorities. climate change, gun control and even infrastructure. these are not changes that the american public wants. they are asking for real economic growth, job creation, tackling the budget
